GENERAL DESCRIPTION

With the continuous progress of science and technology, General Pediatrics and its Subspecialties attract significant interest, both in clinical practice and in research, and offer the prospect of rewarding employment opportunities in these fields.

Objectives

Τhe Master of Sciences (MSc) Program entitled « General Pediatrics and Pediatric Subspecialties: Clinical Practice and Research» aims to provide high quality a) theoretical knowledge and clinical experience in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Subspecialties, as well as b) theoretical and applied knowledge in research.

During the MSc Course, postgraduate students are expected to attend all classes and participate successfully in the exams, undertake clinical training and complete their research thesis.

Τhe MSc Course is appropriate for General Practitioners, General Pediatricians, Pediatric Subspecialists, Nurses and other Health Professionals who are interested in undertaking work in Childrens’ Hospitals.

The MSc Course graduates will acquire the required skills to undertake a successful career in the private, public or academic sectors.

Master’s Degree (MSc)

The MSc Course awards a Master’s Degree (MSc) in “General Pediatrics and Pediatric Subspecialties: Clinical Practice and Research” following the successful completion of the studies based on the curriculum. A total of one hundred and twenty (120) credits (ECTS) are required to obtain the MSc Degree.

Τhe MSc Degree is awarded by the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

Duration of the MSC Program

The duration of the MSc Program is four (4) academic semesters. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd semesters include the attendance of all theoretical modules, while the 4th semester includes the Clinical Training and the completion of the MSc Thesis.

CURRICULUM

Τhe MSc Program «General Pediatrics and Pediatric Subspecialties: Clinical Practice and Research» covers four (4) academic semesters. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd semesters include the attendance of all theoretical modules, while the 4th semester includes the Clinical Training and the completion of the MSc Thesis.

A total of one hundred and twenty (120) credits (ECTS) are required to obtain the MSc Degree.

During the MSc Course, postgraduate students are expected to attend all classes and participate successfully in the exams, undertake clinical training and complete their research thesis.

The MSc Course modules cover 4 academic semesters and are held twice weekly. The official language of the MSc Course is Greek (rarely English).

During the 1st and the 2nd semester, teaching sessions are held every Tuesday and Wednesday, at 3:00-9:30 p.m.

During the 3rd semester, teaching sessions are held every Wednesday and Thursday, at 3:00-9:30 p.m.

During the 4th semester, the clinical training and the master thesis are completed.

The Steering Committee has the authority to determine the Study Program and modify the MSc Course.
